1. THE JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Deadline for submissions is February 1, 2020.
Through its Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $30,000 over four years to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.
This four-year program guides JRF Scholars to effectively navigate their college environments, explore career options, develop leadership skills, and embrace a commitment to service. The program also promotes the values and character traits embodied in the heroic life of the Foundation’s namesake, encouraging Scholars to positively impact the lives of others.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:
  • Be a graduating high school senior;
  • Plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States;
  • Show leadership potential;
  • Demonstrate a dedication to community service;
  • Present evidence of financial need;
  • Be a United States citizen;
  • Have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21;
  • Not possess a degree from a 2 or 4–year College when applying for the scholarship.

2. YOU JUST MIGHT BE A BLACK BILL GATES IN THE MAKING!
THE ALL START CODE SUMMER INTENSIVE
All Star Code creates economic opportunity by developing a new generation of boys and young men of color with an entrepreneurial mindset who have the tools they need to succeed in a technological world.

WHAT:

  • FREE 6-week crash course in coding
  • Learn entrepreneurial and problem solving skills
  • Guest speakers, site visits and mentorship
  • No coding experience needed
  • Free daily transportation
  • Free daily lunch
  • Free laptops (upon graduation of the program)
  • Weekly field trips to large tech companies like Nike, Google, Major League Baseball, and Spotify!

WHERE:

  • NYC, Jersey City and Pittsburgh
  • Hosted at top tech companies and educational institutions

WHO:

  • Young Black & Latino men
  • Student must be a current sophomore or junior in high school
  • Student must complete application and demonstrate motivation (they do not consider GPA in selection)

WHEN:

  • July 6-August 14, 2020
  • Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
  • Applications are open now through April 1, 2020

3. YOUTH FINANCIAL LITERACY AND INTEGRITY PROGRAM (12 available slots)
Facilitated by Brooklyn Neighborhood Services w/ YLE @ EBC
Middle & High School Youth, Ages 11-17

  • 6-week course; 1hr sessions taught by a certified financial coach
  • Study Guide & Assignments provided
  • This course will teach youth financial skills-real world skills-that will last him or her a lifetime.
