Dear Parents/Guardians To provide additional support for students in preparation for the E.L.A. and MATH State Exams, we are partnering with the P.T.A. to offer Saturday Academy from 9:00 am- 11:00 am. We recommend your child attend Saturday Academy to practice skills that will build his/her foundational understanding and prepare him/her for promotion to the next grade. Students will be provided the opportunity to strengthen their reading, writing, comprehension, and computation skills using various strategies that will be explicitly taught. This program requires students to engage in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, so active participation is required. Students will work in small groups of no more than 15 and will be instructed by a classroom teacher and thereby enhancing students’ confidence in their abilities. The dates for Saturday Academy are: March 12 (E.L.A.), March 19 (E.L.A.), March 26 (E.L.A.) April 2 (MATH), and April 9 (MATH) Students who attend Saturday Academy will take a three-session Language Arts Course and a two-session Math Course. Students are to adhere to the following expectations, failure to do so will lead to this offer being rescinded: - During LIVE instruction, cameras are to be on, always.
- Report to the sessions on time.
- Students are to participate fully by answering questions, asking questions, engaging in discussion with peers.
- Follow directions the first time they are given.
- There must be an adult present in the home in case the teacher needs assistance with the student complying with the expectations in the moment.
Students are responsible for attending each session, being on time, and being engaged. Students who do not support the Saturday Academy learning environment and do not comply with the expectations listed above will be dismissed from future dates. We believe that this will be a great opportunity for your child and look forward to his/her attendance. Please reply to this email by Wednesday, March 9, 2022, giving permission for your child to attend Saturday Academy. Again, thank you for your commitment to your child’s education.
